Music production Mentorship
Hosted by Patch Murphy
22nd January - 26th February 2026
A 6-Week Journey to Recording & Producing Your Own Songs from Home
TAKING ALL THE LESSONS LEARNED FROM OVER A DECADE OF RECORDING, SONGWRITING, AND HOME-STUDIO CREATIVITY
We open our doors exclusively to a small group of mentees to learn the foundations of self-recording, sound shaping, and artistic production
We need more musicians recording themselves
We need more artists in control of their creative expression and freedom
We need more art shared and recorded from people that write from the heart
This is why we're doing this
We'll be following a recording pathway curated from Patch — an independent artist, producer and founder of Rainbow Root Records who’s built an entire world of sound from a bedroom with a single mic and an acoustic guitar
He's spent over a decade recording and mixing himself and others,
and is now sharing what can empower us -
bringing power back to the artists hands by sharing what he's learnt from the freeing practice of self-production
About Your Facilitator

Patch Murphy
Patch Murphy is a songwriter, producer, and founder of Rainbow Root Records — a homegrown label born from the belief that raw, honest creation is the most powerful form of connection.
Drawing from years of self-producing, performing, and supporting other artists at home studios, Patch has developed a recording philosophy rooted in presence, curiosity, and creative self-trust. From experience, he knows how the recording process can be very liberating and transformative when done right.
He is currently the in-house producer at Lovejams music studio in Domnu Valley where he lives.
While contributing his skills in high-end studio sessions, his heart is anchored in the philosophy of self-production and accessability. He's found home-recording to be an exciting world with less limitations than we think.
His focus is on helping artists uncover their own sonic language — using simple tools, natural acoustics, and heartfelt performances to create recordings that feel alive.
This mentorship brings together everything Patch has learned from the DIY path — not as a rigid formula, but as a living, breathing framework to help you record your truth, from wherever you are.

"I've been self producing my own music for a few years and going through some trials and tribulations to figure it all out.
Spending time with Patch has helped me a lot as he makes production skills I thought were super complicated, feel super easeful, intuitive and actually quite simple.
Patch is refreshing also as he doesn't encourage you to "overproduce" your work and he is very attuned to the magic in the rawness and maintaining your artistic integrity.
I encourage all artists to empower themselves to self produce their music and Patch will make that feel possible."

"The whole process felt so painless, enjoyable and satisfying. He catered to all my needs as an artist...but this man's passion for music and sublimley sensitive ear makes him some what of a wizard.
Not once did I feel like I was in labour trying to push out a song I've carried for 9 month. It felt like it blew in on the cosmic breeze and landed in the palm of our hands covered in faerie dust.
Patch's passion for my creation was dearly felt.
I'm so happy with it all and massively grateful.”

Become The Root Of Your Own Sound...

🌱 When you record from the heart, something real begins to grow.
Your songs become living expressions of your purpose — tiny worlds that others can step into and feel seen within.
Each home recording becomes this extrodinary chance to meet yourself through your voice and instrument alongside the space and time you're in.
Through this process, you learn to record and share what matters most about your music, to create a valuable connection between your musical creativity and recording authenticity.
🌿 This mentorship is for those ready to cultivate that deeper relationship with their craft — to take raw songs and ground them in a recording pathway which takes into account how to maintain your sound, spirit, and story.
🛠️ It’s a space to grow confidence, self-trust and the technical roots to record music that feels alive.
🤝 And vitally, the community aspect of this course supports you through the process of listening back, editing, and refining.
This course is designed with first-hand experience in that meeting edges and blockages is a human part of the recording path.
This will be held and supported so that you are encouraged by the technical aspects while growing as an artist too.

What Artists Have To Say About Working With Patch
.png)

He makes the technology feel so much more accessible and less intimidating.
I'd leaned in to learning about music production many times and felt too overwhelmed by all the buttons, but since I met Patch they feel more friendly and it's much easier.
With his patience, encouragement & fun detail it all felt simpler and therapeutic in a way.
Mary-Grace Dineen
His keen ear and warm personality have made the often anxious and fraught experience of recording a good deal more enjoyable.
Jack Telford (Green Hands)
He understands an artists vision and does very well at aiding that while enhancing it with his own ideas.
Sessions feel creatively safe, which has helped me grow and take creative risks as an artist.
It's clear he truly cares about both the music and the process, down to every detail.
Wesri
As well as being calm and open to all suggestions, I found his ability to contribute creative ideas really refreshing. He knows what a piece needs and exactly how to execute it, whilst always respecting the work and the artist's vision as a whole.

"Over the last year living with Patch my production skills have gone through the roof. With his advanced knowledge of production combined with his musical intelligence he is the perfect person to be teaching this stuff.
It has been invaluable working closely with Patch on my upcoming EP of which only 1 of the songs he has recorded, the rest I have produced alone with the knowledge received from his education."

What Artists Have To Say About Working With Patch
Benji Roots
Patch is really able to listen to your needs, wants and hear the sound your music should go for. He creates stories by weaving beautiful dreamy textures in what tends to be a lush folk sound.
I have been a fan of patch for years since before I knew him well, after I heard some of his music.
Alex Collett-Sinfield (ACS) - Self-Producing Songwriter
Patch brings a certain energy to the session that kind of slows down time and refocuses you on what’s really important about the music. Alongside this, he truly has the ear of a songwriter; that is, one that is really, really well atuned to all the musical/harmonic/rhythmic subtleties that many producers gloss over or are simply unable to see. I cannot recommend him any more highly.
SHAN - Self-Producing Songwriter
My time with Patch was joyous and inspiring, he's is easy to work with, holding space for the creative flow at just the right pace.
Instrumentally he is impeccable, which made it so smooth to bring my concept to life.
What a blessing! Looking forward to working with the Lovejam team again.
Will Taylor
As a player and a producer he knows how to always do what's best for the piece of music as a whole, showing equal parts restraint and creative flourish.

Frequently Asked Questions
When does it start?
We begin Thursday 22nd January, running for 6 weeks until 26th February.
You’ll get one 3-hour live session with me each week - all recorded for lifetime access, where we'll go through the new skills and prepare for the weeks recording journey.
Plus a 2hr-live weekly group drop-in for exploring any more sensitivites and for group discussions on how it's going.
What do I need to do this?
You don't need to have a software downloaded or any equipment tried and tested yet. We have setup-guides with a list of different tiers for you to follow. The majority of the teachings will be shared within Logic Pro X, but the course is designed to be compatible with other DAWs. Reaper (a free audio editing software available on Mac and Windows) will be cited ofte, and everything that we teach will be accessible using this great tool. You will be guided through every part of downloading and getting your computer ready, and if you need extra support, we have a dedicated tech support and Patch will tailor his guidance and make time for your specific situation.
What if I can’t attend every session?
Everything is recorded and uploaded with notes, summaries and resources. There is a workbook made with the core tasks and information from each week so that one can practice and drop in if they couldn't make a call. This is so that people that have to juggle full-time jobs or family can still see great results.
You can also send in questions beforehand that we can answer live on the calls if you know that you might miss a call but still want Patch to answer them.
What kind of support will I get?
Alongside the 2 live weekly sessions, you’ll get:
Access to Patch directly via WhatsApp voice notes for 1-1 supports + Q&As.
A community group with the other mentees for accountability and community networking + support.
1-to-1 production coaching session tailored to your specific goals & challenges.
Lifetime access to all done-for-you resources + templates + workbook to ensure you have what you need to record your songs at home.
What if I don't get the results I desire?
We are confident in the quality of this programme that we provide a 100% money back guarantee.
Do I have enough time?
We have kept the course as succinct as possible whilst still providing all the necessary information to self-record your music straight off the bat. In the long run, the mentorship is actually designed to save you time by giving you clear structure, systems, tools and templates you can load straight into your projects.
You can join live or catch up with recordings anytime, so it fits around your rhythm. We can provide dynamic payment options if you have specific commitments that mean you cannot make the live sessions.
Who’s it for?
This is for anyone ready to take their creative and artistic musical journey into the realms of self-recording and production in a way that aligns with soft encouragement and emotional support — whether you’re recording your first song, been playing for years but never self-produced, or have a project fully ready but want to know how to get it to materialise digitally. This might be for you if your interested in:
Recording your own songs
Songwriting as a practice
Artist development
Creative process & flow
Finishing music without burning out
Lo-fi, indie & organic production
Acoustic & hybrid recording
Using limitations as creative tools
Recording vocals & guitar at home
Minimalist setups & intentional gear use
Production as self-expression
Emotional honesty in music
Sound as storytelling
DIY release strategies
Building a sustainable music practice
Independent artistry
Creative confidence
Learning by doing (not perfection)
Music as a healing & connective force
Community-rooted music making
Purpose-led creative work
Long-term artistic growth
Do i need to have a song ready to record and in mind?
Definitely not. Our coaching helps you to get clearer on your sound and artistic expression. By relating this to your own music taste & personal story we help to craft a structure which allows yoiu to deepen your writing and & experience designing your sound through music production at the same time. The stage you are at on this journey is personal and there is no pressure to start and leave at the same point as anyone else, but we are confident that this course can only help but develop that growth postiively.
Am I ready/ experienced enough?
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You can bring the seeds of ideas, or even just an excitement to play your instrument and sing; then we can build the framework together. You may want to work on your music alongside the 6 weeks or maybe you are just wanting to develop the knowledge & tools to record what you already have in mind. All will be supported through the 6 weeks.
What’s the investment?
The full mentorship is £850, but we are still offering a few discounted solidarity places + flexible payment plans.
If the program calls to you, we never want finances to be a barrier & we will always find a way to make it work.
Do you have any alternative payment options for those in need?
Absolutely, we have payment plan options & solidarity discounts.
